Howdy! The baulky motor problem sounds like an issue of timing. The ESC should have been default to an auto timing but I have run across a couple that weren't. I second this. While my WN enhancements to non-WN projects are laughably primitive, some of the more experienced builders (for example, Ed Larsen and others) are turning out magnificent "kit bashing" projects which lesser builders like me need to see. 😁 Well thanks for the compliment :-) ...

Don,
Maybe just make a launch rig something like the stooges they use for Combat wings.
From the videos I've seen these thing are airborne in short order and the stooge would give you the couple inches of rail guide angled upward you would need to get airborne.
