Re: Ace High MkII - in foam
Before electronics, the weight difference between the original balsa/ply fuselage with tail feathers and the same thing in foam (with 1/16 ply reinforcing is a whopping 100 grams (3.5oz) so hopefully this version of the Ace High will be able to soar at least somewhat, with power off.

Re: Ace High MkII - in foam
Fuselage nearly complete and ready for paint. All it needs is the rear upper decking and reinforcing around the dowels for wing rubber bands. The wing is from the kit I bought decades ago and never finished. The outer panels had been covered with a peel-n-stick version of monokote, which I removed ...

Re: Kit Improvement Suggestion
in theory, yes. I'm a retired IT guy myself and made some suggestions regarding backup strategies. Nothing makes one a more true believer in backups than having to reconstruct a lot of data or worse, losing irreplaceable data.

Ace High MkII - in foam
MANY years ago, I bought an Ace High MkII kit and mostly completed it. Then my son was born and my hobby money evaporated... Now that he's an adult and on his own and I'm back in the hobby again, I'm revisiting old projects - especially those started but not yet finished. When Doug came out with the ...

Final Word: S-Tee mod for symmetrical wing
Flight on 2s with a 6x3 prop was sluggish at best and overall unsatisfying. Switching to 3s power and a 5x3 prop made a world of difference and also solved a secondary problem = since I have a simple tail skid rather than a tail wheel, the plane wanted to careen wildly left on power up for takeoff ...

Final Word on the Littlest BipeStik, aka Der Frankenstik
I had the incidence of BOTH wings wrong. Bottom wing was negative and upper wing was significantly positive. Flattening both out to approximately zero incidence made it a lot easier to handle. However, I also apparently overestimated the required size for the tail feathers because it's VERY ...

P-Jay mod for rudder servo
I wanted a rudder for my P-Jay AND I wanted a hatch to access it if needed. Here's my mod, which also includes my magnetic latch for the canopy. The aileron and elevator servos mount from below so my rudder servo mounts from above which will make pushrod routing easier. The ply blocks will be ...
